How easy it is for us as humanity to get lost in the busyness of life that we don’t stop and wonder anymore, isn’t it? I think it is vital to our growth to take a moment every once in awhile, stop, and just think about things.
What things you may ask? How about the wonder and grandeur of our God?
As I was driving to work the other day, I turned off the radio and just thought about the greatness of God. I thought, He is so big that He is able to listen to each persons thoughts and prayers all at once. Think about that for one moment.
Right now there are over 7 billion people inhabiting this planet. When I am driving somewhere with the family in the car and my husband is talking to me, the radio is going, and the kids are both talking in the back seat, it is hard for me to think clearly and understand any of it. There is too much noise! And that is only four people. He listens to 7 billion!
Children are always quick to stand in awe of new and exciting things. As we grow older, it is so easy to become jaded and unimpressed with everything in life, including our faith. I think this may be another reason Jesus said that we must become like children to enter the kingdom of heaven. Their constant wonder!
Not only does God listen to all of us, He wants to listen to us, and He will dwell in each of us, living in relationship with us if we allow Him. I know that most of us know this and it’s “old” news. But when I thought of the logistics of it the other day, I just had to open my mouth in wonder!
How can I say this with confidence? Because I have seen God answer prayers. I have seen Him show up when I needed Him the most. I have felt incredible peace wash over me as I gave Him the stress that was overwhelming me. I have witnessed the impossible become reality!
The Bible is filled with stories of people who knew they didn’t have the qualifications to be a follower of Christ, and yet because they said yes to God, were part of incredible miracle stories. The beauty is that God’s power and might was not just applicable for people thousands of years ago. His might, strength, and glory are just as powerful today as it was back in the Bible.
“The kingdom of God is not a realm of grandiose talk; it is a realm of power.” – 1 Corinthians 4:20
What is even more incredible to me is that there are no qualifications for me to be able to speak with the One who created the earth. I have access to the King of Kings simply because I am His child. He created me, therefore I can talk to my Saviour, my Papa, about anything and everything. This grand and mighty God wants little ol’ me to come before Him and share my heart with Him. He wants the same for you too!
“So let us step boldly to the throne of grace, where we can find mercy and grace to help when we need it most.” – Hebrews 4:16
There need not be fear when we pray to God. Just confidence, joy, and wonder. He yearns to hear what is on my heart, and what is on your heart. Prayer brings us before the throne of God and allows us to come into communion with the living God so that just as the Lord’s prayer says, we can bring heaven to earth.
Haven’t prayed in awhile? No problem! Don’t let the enemy drag you down with guilt about anything that happened before. You are free to run to the One who knows it all already and loves you with a passion that will knock your socks off, if you let Him!
Abba Father, it is my prayer today that anyone reading this can feel Your mighty presence with them in this moment, giving them the strength to live this day, for Your glory and honour. May I remember how incredible You are as well, so that anytime I am happy, sad, or mad, I run to You first! Your grandeur is truly amazing and I thank you that even as big as You are, You love me, care for me, and want to hear what I have to say. Amen!
